More Brits showing interest in overseas property

New research shows that more Brits are currently interested in buying a property abroad compared to the number who were last year.

The results of a recent report conducted by an overseas property website reveals that between January and September 2014, there was a 17 per cent increase in enquiries compared to the same period last year, rising from 29,299 to 34,287.

The traditional European favourites of Spain, France and Portugal are the three most enquired about destinations, although Greece, Italy and Turkey have both become increasingly popular in recent months, the report shows.

Spain generated 2,710 enquiries in the third quarter of 2014, compared to 2,494 enquiries in the third quarter last year. French property, meanwhile, attracted 2,575 enquiries.

In terms of growth in the number of enquiries seen in the third quarter compared to the second, Italy (up 12.7 per cent), Greece up (per cent and Turkey (8.5 per cent), were the star performers.

The months of April to June continue to be the most popular months for would be homebuyers to view and complete an overseas property purchase, the report found.
