Spring Emigrate shows a success

Nearly 25,000 thousand potential migrants flooded through the doors at the Spring 2007 Emigrate shows at Edinburgh, London and Belfast

Eager for advice on how to escape the UK rat race and start a new life overseas, the 2007 Spring Emigrate shows attracted huge audiences at each of its three venues.

Visitors to the Emigrate shows were greeted by experts in all fields of emigration, from long haul government officials to visa consultants, financial experts, international removers to specialist recruiters; and there was plenty of opportunity to get advice on all aspects of starting a new life abroad.  The chance to meet and talk to officials from overseas governments and talk with experts from around the world offered visitors an excellent starting point for their journey overseas.

One of the most popular features of the shows were the revised "Meet the Experts" presentations. Perhaps the liveliest part of the programme was the new "Live and Exclusive" presentation. Linking up on a large screen to families across Canada, members of the audience were able to ask, and see, how life in Canada was treating them.  Popular discussions included topics such as car insurance, education and, courtesy of the son of one of the families, how the British accent adds to your appeal to the opposite sex in Canada!  Suddenly all the teenagers in the audience suddenly seemed very keen to emigrate …

For others attending the show, recruitment was a key issue and the International Jobs Board displaying hundreds of jobs from around the world was always busy.  With specialist recruiters keeping an eye out for skilled candidates to fill vacant positions abroad there were plenty of people who ended the day with very real job prospects. One long distance lorry driver attending the show at Belfast received a job offer at the show and was on his way to Canada to start it within a week.
