The South African High Commission in London has advised all applicants for permits for temporary and permanent residence and visas that ‘walk in’ applications will be no longer accepted
They have further advised that the following services will be received by appointment only:
Passports
Registrations of Birth
Applications for Retention of South African Citizenship Status
Applications for Exemptions from the Loss of South African Citizenship Status
Visas / Visitors permits
Temporary residence permits in all categories
Please note that applications for other services not listed above can only be made by mail and this includes permanent residence applications. Appointments have to be made seven working days before a person's visit to the offices of the High Commission.
Appointments can be made by email; or by telephone; (020) 7925 8916. This telephone is unmanned and you will be required to leave a message giving your: Surname; Forenames; Date of birth; email address; Type of service requested; and suggested date of appointment.
The Consular office will confirm appointments, according to their website, and respond within 24 hours of the request for an appointment. The High Commission will shortly have an online web-based appointment system. Appointments can also be made in person, pro forma forms will be handed out in the office. Once the appointment has been set, the applicant will be informed accordingly by the Embassy.
