V is for Vancouver (or for very liveable)
A recent study of the most liveable places in the world shows Canada in a very good light, with several of its cities ranking in the higher echelons of the survey.
The annual survey carried out by the Economist's Intelligence Unit saw Vancouver named as the most liveable city in the world, while Toronto was fourth and Calgary joint fifth.
The survey is carried out with the aim of finding out the challenges faced by people living in 140 cities worldwide. Results are governed by five categories: culture and environment, health care, education, infrastructure and stability.
This is not the first time that Canada's cities have performed well in a liveability survey; they frequently top the lists due to the country's renowned perfect combination of location, lifestyle and overall economic stability. What's more, Canada is gradually beginning to drift away from the economic gloom and repair itself financially.
By comparison, the cities at the bottom of the list were in Asian and African countries where political and social instability teamed with economic hardships mean that they scored lower marks.
