Drunk in charge of a skateboard
In a case that can probably claim to be the first of its kind, a Queenslander has been arrested for drunk driving – on a skateboard.
Corey Symes, a 22-year-old apprentice carpenter from Alexandra Headland, pleaded guilty to being under the influence of alcohol while riding his skateboard along a public road in September. Police claim to have seen Symes go through traffic lights and swerve between lanes at speed while clutching an open can of rum. When stopped, he recorded an alcohol content of .095. Symes told the state prosecutor that he was 'sincerely sorry' for his actions and would never repeat them.
