You will take responsibility for the Indexer and Searcher, which are a matched pair of C/C++ applications core to SLI Systems' offering. These are responsible for producing efficient data structures from the raw client content and then delivering the required search results against stringent performance criteria. These components sit within a larger system of SLI products. These applications offer significant challenges in terms of providing the required live response times as well as minimising the time taken to index the original data. SLI product enhancements often require modifications to these applications, and maintaining the required performance will test the skills of the best out there.
This opportunity represents the chance to work on an application which processes millions of queries every day across hundreds of sites. The hosted nature of the SLI service simplifies product maintenance and allows rapid, flexible product development. The candidate will be expected to thrive in this environment and continue the product development in new and interesting ways.
The candidate will be expected to own these applications, have a key role in directing the algorithmic direction, and to work with the product manager to ensure the applications continue to meet the business requirements.
The successful candidate will have had 5+ years experience in professional C/C++ development and have shown an ability to develop and enhance complex algorithms, ideally around the fields of text processing and manipulation.
