Emigrate Glasgow Visitor FAQ

We know how daunting visiting an exhibition of this type can be. These frequently asked questions may give you the answers you need.

What time does the Emigrate Glasgow open and close to the public?
The Show opens on Saturday at 10am and closes at 4pm and on Sunday the show opens at 10am and closes at 4pm.

Is there car parking on site? And is this free?
Yes there is parking on site, and costs £5.00 per day for parking.

Which is the closest train station and how far is this from the venue?
Exhibition Centre station is SECC's own dedicated railway station allowing easy access from the city centre and the suburbs. Six trains an hour (around every 10 minutes) from Central Station (Platform 17 is on the lower level) will bring you to Exhibition Centre station in a journey time of just three minutes. Trains are around every 10 minutes.

Should I bring a copy of my CV with me?
We would advise you to bring a copy of your CV and any other information that you feel relevant, now's the time to get all those questions answered!

Do I need a ticket to get entry?
Yes you must have either purchased a ticket in advance or on the day at the reception desk. Adult tickets are priced at £10, or £8 if purchased in advance. Children under 16 are admitted free.

Do you accept credit cards as payment for tickets?
Yes we accept all major credit cards.

If the show is very busy, will I still get in to it?
Yes the halls are large and you will get into the show without any problem.

Are tickets refundable if we can't attend the show?
Tickets are non-refundable; we can however transfer them to another Emigrate exhibition later in the same year.

What if I can't attend the show on the day for which I booked my ticket?
If you are unable to attend on this day then please contact us on 0773 471 7374 to arrange a replacement.

Do senior citizens and students get a discount on entrance tickets or Presentation Passes?
No. All ticket prices are kept to an absolute minimum.

Are children welcome at the exhibition?
Yes we welcome children of all ages, but please note these shows can be very busy.

Is there a crèche or any similar facilities on site for us to leave our children whilst we are at the exhibition?
No.

What happens if I lose my child?
Please go to the main Emigrate stand or reception desk and we will broadcast an announcement immediately and assist in relocating you with your child.

Who is exhibiting at the exhibitions?
Exhibitors include some long haul destination governments, regional and government departments, recruiters, migration specialists, removal firms, money exchange companies and relocation agents mainly from Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

What are the Presentations?
During the exhibition we hold various presentations covering all aspects on emigrating, these presentations provide you the chance to ask any questions, and gather information from our panel of experts. The Presentations are included within your ticket price, but are limited on seating capacity.

How long do presentations tend to last?
Presentations vary on depending on the country and subject covered, but on average last 30 minutes.

Once I have entered the exhibition am I able to leave and return later in the day?
Yes, this is not a problem, as long as you are returning on the same day, and have a re-admittance slip, which you can get from the Reception stands as you leave.

Are there disabled facilities?
Yes. There is disabled access to the venue; there are also disabled toilets at the venue.

Can I bring my dog along with me?
No only assistance dogs are allowed within the venue.

What happens if I lose anything?
Anything found will be handed in to the Emigrate reception desks at the entrance, and kept here until collected.

Are there toilets at the venues?
Yes there are plenty at the venue.

Is there a cash point on site?
HBOS provides visitors to the SECC with a free of charge ATM and secure pay-in drawer, this is located on the main concourse next to the Box Office. In addition to this there are three other ATMs in the main SECC and one in the foyer of the Clyde Auditorium.

Are there public telephones on site?
Payphones can be found in numerous locations throughout the SECC and Clyde Auditorium. They accept payment by cash and debit/credit cards.

Are there cloakrooms on site?
No.

Are there any catering facilities on site for snacks or for lunch?
Yes there is a café on site offering hot food, sandwiches or just a snack.

On arrival you will be required to fill in a registration form on the back of your ticket.

Remember to ask as many questions as possible, now's the time to get all those unanswered questions answered - no matter how insignificant you feel they are! Exhibitors understand you maybe apprehensive and are more than happy to help with any of your questions.
