Dubai favoured by American expats

Dubai has become the most popular destination for American workers looking to work abroad, a new survey reveals.

According to the survey, carried out by health benefits provider Aetna International using Google Trends data, Dubai has been the most searched destination for want-away Americans since January 2013, moving London, the previous favourite, into second place.

Paris, Singapore and Rome were the three next most popular locations for would-be American expats.

Compared with 2006, US citizens appear to be considering a far broader range of countries than ever before when it comes to working abroad,” said Caroline Pain, marketing director Aetna International. “Dubai has now overtaken London as the most popular city for Americans looking for jobs overseas.”

She added that Americans looking for jobs abroad are attracted by the safe and secure environment, as well as the employment opportunities and international lifestyle.

There are currently already around 40,000 Americans living in the UAE, with this number expected to increase in the coming years.

The United Arab Emirates is already one of the world’s most popular expat locations, with approximately 80 per cent of the country’s total population being made up of overseas nationals.
