We are seeking trained Prison Officers with a minimum of three years experience. As a Prison Officer, you will manage the State's remand and sentenced prisoners. The Department manages 12 maximum, medium and minimum security and seven prisoner work camps across the vast state of Western Australia.

Community Corrections Officers
(Probation/parole officer)
We are seeking Community Corrections Officers (CCOs) to work with adult offenders to: reduce offending; protect the community; direct offenders toward law-abiding lifestyles to help create safer communities. CCOs use research-led, contemporary counselling and interventions to achieve positive behaviour change in adult offenders.  CCOs supervise adult offenders in the community and provide advice and reports to courts and releasing authorities, based on assessment and analysis of offending behaviour. CCOs work in community based centres, program centres, prisons or the courts.

Juvenile Justice Officers

Juvenile Custodial Officers
(Management of young offenders in custody)
Juvenile Custodial Officers(JCO) are role models with broad life experience who encourage and motivate young people to turn their lives around for the better. At the same time, they ensure the safe custody of the detainee and the security of the community. Successful JCOs come from a range of professional and cultural backgrounds. Many formerly worked as trades people, in the defence forces or in other welfare roles. Some have high level academic qualifications while others finished school before graduating. The key is that all JCOs share the ability to make a positive difference to the lives of young people in custody most of whom have had negative developmental life experiences and fractured educational opportunities.

Teachers and Trainers

The Education and Vocational Training Unit within Department of Corrective Services works towards assisting students to acquire, develop, practice and apply knowledge, skills and attitudes they need now and in the future to take responsible control of their own lives. Service delivery is through nationally accredited education and vocational training courses. EVTU operates as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) called ASETS (Auswest Specialist Education and Training Services).
