Auckland world’s best waterside city

If you’re looking for a life by the sea when it comes to deciding on your new destination, then Auckland may be the place for you.

According to a study carried out by Chicago Line Cruises, New Zealand’s largest city is the world’s best city located by the water. Sandwiched between two large harbours, Auckland topped the list of 25 global destinations included in the study.

Using a range of sources (including Mercer’s quality of life ranking, Numbeo and Euromonitor), Chicago Line Cruises analysed various data relating to quality of life, living conditions, tourism and city characteristics to identify the world’s best waterside cities.

Barcelona, the largest city with a Mediterranean coastline ranked second on the list, while Vancouver, bordering the Pacific Ocean, was third.

Chicago, located at the bottom edge of Lake Michigan, was the highest ranked American city, in sixth place, while Sydney was the highest placed Australian city (7th), with Perth (18th) also making the cut.

Edinburgh (25th) was the only UK city to make then list, although Ireland’s capital, Dublin was ranked in 11th place.
