Spending your retirement in the South African sunshine might seem like your idea of heaven, but do you qualify under this category?
Key requirements
To obtain authorisation to remain in South Africa for either temporary residence (four years), or permanent residence you will be required to either have a pension or retirement annuity delivering an income of ZAR20,000 per month, per person or the applicant can demonstrate a net worth of ZAR7.5 million and make a one off payment of ZAR75,000.
Processing time
Times may vary depending on individual cases. If one spouse does not qualify there are other options, such as applying under the relative category, after the qualifying spouse has received the permit.
