Key requirements
In this category the requirements are a relationship within one degree of kinship by way of blood or marriage. Only a mother or father, child or parent of an applicant would qualify to apply for permanent residence in the relatives permit category. A relative with two degrees kinship to a South African citizen or permanent resident may apply for temporary residence in South Africa for a period of up to two years.
Processing times
Times vary depending on individual cases. A relative may not work whilst on a relative's permit.
