This category will be of interest to business people and entrepreneurs alike

There are three types of Canadian Business Class visas.

To qualify through the Investor route you must have spent at least two years in the management of a qualifying business and have controlled an equity of this business for at least two years beginning five years before the application date.

You will also need to score at least 35 points on the selection grid (www.cic.gc.ca) have a legally obtained net worth of at least CDN$800,000 and be prepared to make an investment of CDN$400,000 – repaid, tax-free, after five years with no interest. You must pay your investment within 30 days of receiving notification from the CHC.

As an Entrepreneur you must be able to prove that you have managed and controlled a percentage of equity of a qualifying business for at least two years within the period beginning five years before the date of your application. You will also need a legally obtained minimum net worth of CDN$300,000 and score at least 35 points on the grid.

You must submit a business plan with your application forms and sign a statement stating that you meet certain conditions.

To qualify as a Self-employed person you will need to have had experience in either cultural activities, athletics or farm management. You need to be able to make a contribution in these fields, score a minimum of 35 points on the grid, and have the ability to support yourself.
