Kiwi visa fees overhauled
The fees for NZ visa applications have recently changed, so make sure you check before submitting an application or it fail!
Any visa application lodged outside New Zealand is now subject to different processing payments than previously. The fees that Immigration New Zealand (INZ) charges for immigration services changed on 31 May 2010, though these changes only affect payments made outside New Zealand, not payments made in Kiwi dollars.
The reason INZ gave for altering fees was that currency exchange rates have changed significantly in recent months, and the fees that charged outside NZ are no longer aligned with the value of the New Zealand dollar. The affected currencies are the Euro, British Pound, US Dollar, Chinese Yuan and Hong Kong Dollar.
INZ helpfully updated its office and fees finder on 31 May, and it is important not to assume previously stated figures are still accurate as it may prove costly.
Applications logged after 31 May must have been submitted with the correct fee or INZ warn they will not accept them. If you have any doubts, please contact the branch where you are lodging the application.
