Essential help for workers

A new online resource has been announced with the aim of helping newcomers to Canada to find their feet in the workplace and become up to speed on everything they need to settle into their prospective jobs.

The resource, called  'Planning to work in Canada? An essential workbook for newcomers', covers several areas, including: the importance of knowing one of Canada's languages, gathering documents, educational matters and the difference between regulated and non-regulated professions.

Jason Kenney, minister for citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism welcomed the news by commenting: "Each year thousands of skilled newcomers arrive in Canada. It is in their interest, and in Canada's interest, to do everything we can to help them put their skills to work here as soon as possible once they arrive."

The Canadian government has pledged millions of dollars to help migrants integrate into the Canadian workplace, including CDN$50 million towards foreign credential recognition.

The online workbook is designed to be a step-by-step guide to fully integrating into the Canadian workplace and settling into new roles easily.
